The use of social media is at an all-time high, and it is very important to use quality pictures in your social posts. Whichever social media platform you are active on, all require the use of high-quality pictures, a feed that is visually appealing, and content that is on brand.

Importance of Visual Posts

Creating visuals for your text copy is undoubtedly necessary. After users see an image, they will remember 65 percent as opposed to only 10 percent if they merely read or hear it (Brainrules). Because of shorter attention spans, it is even more important to have high-quality, visually appealing photos that captivate your audience as soon as they see your post in their feeds. Similarly, when people are searching for content related to your post, they are more likely to click a visually appealing image.

Visual posts also perform much better than text posts. Tweets with images receive 150 percent more retweets than tweets without images (BufferApp), and Facebook posts with images see 2.3 times more engagement than those without images (BuzzSumo).

Take a look at some of our suggestions to make your social feed more captivating and successful:

1. Keep it Simple

Don’t overthink your photos. Simple photos can be effective.

2. Shoot from a High or Low Angle

This creates a different look to your photos, making them more interesting and captivating.

3. Use Diagonal Lines or Symmetry

The use of lines or symmetry in photos is visually appealing. Lines or symmetry allow the users’ eyes to move across the image.

4. Capture Close Details

Take a close-up picture of an object to show impressive detail.

5. Use Photo Filters

Use some of the filters provided to give your photos a unique look, but don’t go too crazy! An over-filtered photo is never a good look; we suggest dialing down the intensity when using a filter. Also, try to use the same filter on each of your photos to remain consistent and on brand.

6. Create an Infographic

Infographics are “liked” and shared on social media 3 times more often than any other types of content (Hubspot), so try to create them when explaining processes or data.
